No More Westin SPG Gold Card For Westin Manila Residents, You'll Get Something Else

Okay, I just found out about something today... Man I should be checking more often. 😅

So for all you fans of the five star Westin hotel and resort brand and those who prefer to live and invest in Southeast Asia's The Residences at The Westin Manila Sonata Place, you probably won't be getting any 5 year Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) Gold Card anymore. What you'll receive instead, upon unit turnover, is a Marriott Bonvoy Silver rewards card.

I was checking on my older Westin blog post earlier and got surprised when one video wasn't watchable anymore. I was like... that's impossible! How can a video from the official SPG YouTube channel disappear like that? Well... I found out more than a month later that they've scrapped SPG and have finally combined it with 2 other rewards system to become Marriott Bonvoy.

Yeah I did read about the upcoming change last year but I got too busy working early this year that I haven't been able to go online that much until now. So there at least now you know too.

The announcement or launch of the Marriott Bonvoy brand happened back on February 13, 2019. It is a combination of SPG rewards, Ritz-Carlton rewards and the Marriott rewards legacy loyalty programs.

The SPG Gold Card seems equivalent to the Marriott Bonvoy Silver Card in terms of qualifications. I'm assuming that's what Westin Manila residential investors/buyers will get as we have yet to hear any official word on it. Seeing as SPG is now part of Marriott Bonvoy, I don't see why it won't happen.

You can see the above text on their website member's benefit page. When you purchase a Westin Manila unit, you won't need to stay 10 to 24 nights a year in any of the Marriott International brand hotels & resorts to qualify. All you need to do is reserve with me and buy any 1, 2, 3 bedroom or Penthouse unit at The Residences at The Westin Manila Sonata Place and you should get the Silver rewards card upon unit turnover.

According to the Marriott rewards website:

Marriott Bonvoy means good travel — this idea guides everything that we do. That’s why we’re creating a world of travel opportunities, centered on you.

Also, according to Stephanie Linnartz, Global Chief Commercial Officer, Marriott International:
Marriott Bonvoy marks an evolution in travel because it represents more than a loyalty program. Marriott Bonvoy is a travel program designed to bring to life our extraordinary portfolio of global brands in 129 countries and territories, while also providing endless inspiration for members to keep traveling and pursuing their passions.

The Marriott Bonvoy card is just one of the many benefits and perks you get when you acquire a Westin Manila residence.

Why check in when you can move in to a life of wellness and luxury in Southeast Asia?
